This film tells the story of a few uneventful days in the life of six pals. Lali, a great fan of America, owns a sandwich stand on the side of the road, called The Glass Tiger. Gaben pinches cars; Fox is a petty swindler; Sanyi a half-wit homeless; Coco can't shut up about getting some dough and going to America; Slimmy keeps playing the saxophone, despite the others' frayed nerves. Gaben talks Lali into buying an old Chevrolet Impala, the real American dream. After the long escapade of getting the car, Lali doesn't even get the chance to try the Chevvy out, because a truck completely demolishes it. Fox in the meantime is looking excitedly for the "Wreck", what he has been trying to sell for big money. But Lali has sold what he thought to be scrap, not good for anything. Fox is threatened by some tough guys to bring it back or pay up. He has to get money at all costs...

Hungarian Vagabond

A Hungarian historical movie that tells the story of the Hungarian ancestors, the seven leaders, who are looking for their new homeland in the last years of the 9th century. Before they leave their original home in Asia, they have a farewell party. They wake up with a severe hangover after consuming large quantities of kumis. The seven leaders wake up to find that their people have disappeared.

László Dömötör, the divorced registrar, cannot get rid of his ex-wife any more than he can get rid of marriages. He is desperate to find new love, with little success. After Dömötör gets drunk as a tension reliever at work and turns one of his weddings upside down, his boss fires him. On his way out, he catches a glimpse of Norbert Lázár, an up-and-coming, semi-secret producer who runs nightclubs. Unconfirmed reports say he died in Africa. The man looks exactly like him. All of this spurs him to a crazy idea. A modernised adaptation of the 1942 comedy.

Although the Austrian soldiers enjoy their power, they are unable to identify with the repression. The purpose of the trial of a military imprisonment court is to obtain a confession, to prove that a violation of sovereignty has been committed.

It is 1989, the year of the demise of socialism in eastern Europe. Nevertheless, the one theme of Junk Movie does not refer to this historical moment of high ideals, quite the contrary, the wild, burlesque of a motif-mozaic seems merely to stick it’s tongue out at the arrogant players of politics who have their heads stuck in the clouds. The film rudely points out the mystery and unapproachability surrounding the every-day existence of politics. The scene is a greasy, falling-down block of a pub called the Gólya and its immediate surroundings.

Minden szerdán

Stephen, living in a troubled family, breaks into a grocery store and wreaks vandalism. He is sent to a reform school. Later he works in a cleaning brigade and accidentally meets József Draskóczi, who denounced him. Draskóczi lives in an unloving, troubled atmosphere with his barren daughter and cynical son-in-law, ascetic about his youthful communist beliefs. He feels responsible for Istvan's fate, offering him a human voice and love. Despite his daughter's hysterical jealousy, he sends Istvan to school and then, through his previous connections, provides him with an apartment...

The Bridgeman

This epic story takes place between 1820 and 1860 during the Habsburg Monarchy, and portrays the life one of the greatest Hungarian aristocrats - Count Széchenyi - who was born with extra-ordinary mental and spiritual talents. In the years following the fall of Napoleon the young count Széchenyi irresponsibly seduces his brother's wife, and the consequent scandal ruins his career as an army officer. After the sudden death of his humiliated lover Count Széchenyi drastically changes his character from that of a shallow young man into a responsible nobleman seeking to conquer his fate by creating great achievements in his remaining life.

Love, Mother

Contemporary genre-painting of a Hungarian "middle class" family of four. The scene is the villa apartment almost finished, where the tourist guide mother, father who also works for the second economy and the lonely big girl preparing for her maturity examination turn up alternatively. It is only the teen-ager boy who really "lives" in this place: instead of attending school he stays home all day and observes the life of the surrounding by a self-made periscope. Internal communication of the family is accomplished in writing, on the pin-up board in the kitchen.

Little But Tough

Paul Bogár is released after a year in custody on suspicion of burglary - due to lack of evidence. The man seems to accept society's declared norms, taking a hard physical job in a factory. In his spare time, however, he resumes burglarising houses, carefully and without a trace. He gives the money and the gold he gets to his sister and her family. Although he always works alone, he takes his helpless brother-in-law with him as a driver. Beetle's principle: they too have the right to a good life, and it is impossible to provide it through work. However, a rival gang takes advantage of his brother-in-law to trap him...

Zhiguli

The investigation of the melon affair, to remain undisclosed for thirty years, is led by Major Piroska Szabó, the secret girlfriend of Mr. Kálmán, the boss, with a charge against the policemen Lajos Endúros and Richard Wagner. Sitting on the terrace of their favourite snack bar, the two policemen, along with Sergeant-Major Badár, take an oath not to testify against each other, and to mislead the authorities by giving false evidence.

Red Fun Fair

The film takes place the Budapest Amusement Park in 1919, just before and during the proletarian dictatorship. After the outbreak of the proletarian dictatorship, both the former employee who returns from Russian captivity as a communist and the domestic philosopher spreading Marxists ideology regard the nationalisation of the Fun Fair vitally urgent. In this, the daughter of the owner of Orpheum Blau, Ilona, assisting most enthusiastically.

Memories of a River

In the 19th century Austro-Hungarian Empire, David Hersko, a Jewish shepherd, witnesses the attack of a young girl. His home is burned down and he finds shelter with the family of a Jewish logger. The loggers find the body of a young woman which they bury, going against local laws. They are charged with her murder and it is believed that they killed her as a ritual murder.

The Troupe

After a young soldier sides with a troupe of travelling actors in a fist fight that erupted while they are performing a play, he is forced to flee and the troupe decides to take him in.

Pillangó

Zsigmond Móricz wrote his novel Butterfly in just a few days in 1924. Móricz tells the story of a mighty love that triumphs over adversity and is all-powerful in the language of ordinary people. The love of Zsuzsika and Jóska is presented through the "lightning and veil-soft" emotions of the director, László Vitézy's television adaptation. After The Legend of Hortobágy (Komorló) and The Sky Bird, this is the third film made by László Vitézy based on the writings of Zsigmond Móricz.

Wall Driller

The sad tale of a proletarian malcontent ensconced in a monstrously depressing housing project who—even less effectually than the heroes of Bald-Dog Rock—attempts to change his life. Purchasing a power drill and slinging it across his shoulder like the anti-hero of a spaghetti western, he turns entrepreneur, boring holes in his neighbors’ walls so that they can hang mirrors or pictures.

The Eighth Day of the Week

After her husband's death, Hanna Szendroy, the former primadonna, is caught in the claws of the real estate mafia. She looses her lavish home and ends up homeless at the Keleti train station. When she returns to her house, now full of homeless people moved in by the real estate mafia, an unexpected relationship brings hope into her life again.

Woyzeck

Hungary, 1950s. Istvánka is a sensitive little boy, longing for a role model and friendship, whose father died in the war before he was born. One day, he meets Lacy Márity, a 21-year-old big boy from Budakeszi, who from then on not only goes to play football with him, but also answers his most secret questions. He becomes his friend. Istvánka then becomes more tolerant of the local children's digs and the often incomprehensible behaviour of the adults. But the 1956 revolution intervenes. Laci Márity takes the lead in the rebellion.

Goldberg Variations

This is a rough, fragmented drama about a couple whose 13-year-old son committed suicide without an apparent reason. The film portrays the day after the funeral and the helpless, abandoned mourning of the parents.

Isti is suspicious of everything, even her friend Évi gets her worked up. She and the woman have a row over four crowns, and Isti runs away from home to see her friend, the skirt-chasing Füredit. The two men set off together into the Pest night...

September 1938. Tenants of a Budapest block of flats live their everyday lives, conducted by tradition. World politics does not divide them. Their major experience is the private life of the actress in the house.

A rózsa vére

Anita and her married boyfriend, András, get involved with some heavy hitters who smuggle from Ukraine into Hungary. The deeper into it they get, the more their relationship is strained; things aren't helped by the unexpected visit that András's pregnant wife pays Anita and her mother. At a nightclub, Anita meets Alex, a Ruthenian who's a collector of folk songs. The two of them begin an affair, and András may be left out in the cold, with the local mob still waiting for him to deliver the goods. How patient will they be, how desperate will András get, and how will Anita sort out loyalty and infatuation?

Égi madár

Panni becomes the wife of the landowner Komáromi and thus the first woman of the village. Marriage only brings her wealth, she does not love her lord, her new family despises her, and she does not even get a maid from her former girlfriends. His old lover, Miska, unexpectedly returns to the village and visits the woman. Panni receives him with a smile and, after mutual recriminations, expels him. She tells her husband everything, but Komáromi, unmanly, does not defend his wife himself, but throws Mishka out of the ball with others, and she hates him forever. When Panni meets Miska again, she refuses to let him go back to Pest alone. Another adaptation of Zsigmond Móricz's work.

The Picture Hunters

Richter, Gál and Bakos have stolen valuable paintings from a museum. During their escape, however, they accidentally exchange the black suitcase containing the booty for another. The hunting after the paintings starts.

The Transport

The story, which was motivated by the Spanish flu epidemy in 1918, goes about total helplessness. In a non-identifiable country at the beginning of the century an organisation kidnaps a doctor from his apartment and alongside with several others transports him into a camp.
