Zsigmond Móricz wrote his novel Butterfly in just a few days in 1924. Móricz tells the story of a mighty love that triumphs over adversity and is all-powerful in the language of ordinary people. 6:3, Play It Again Tutti

The makers, especially Péter Tímár wanted to invoke the atmosphere of the communist dictatorship of Rákosi era lasted from 1947 to 1956. I think they've managed to reconstruct it very much: if you read the history books about the era and newspapers from that times, if you listened to your parents' and grandparents' tales, you will experience the similarities are shocking. The main character (Tutti - Károly Eperjes) is excellent, Eperjes, acting an eccentric, but likable crank is in his royal spirits.

Casting Everything

The story is based around an American Idol kind of TV talent show and the eventual winner of the contest: a young orphan woman, who works at an orphanage herself. As I learned from the werkfilm on the DVD, the story was specifically written for Oláh, who in real life was the runner-up of the very first such TV show in Hungary “Megasztár” (“MegaStar”) in 2004. She didn’t win there despite being many viewers’ favorite and having a terrific voice. It is kind of a consolation that she won in the movie, although reading the legal troubles about getting her fee must have made the victory sour.

Brigádnapló

The director, with his usual bittersweet style, began to present a slice of the regime change, using the original diary of the Petőfi Socialist Brigade in Szentes. The film focuses on community cohesion, survival and creative solutions in the era of the deficit economy and socialist planned economy, aiming to not only delve into the past, but also to appeal to the younger generation with its humour and to show them the sometimes burlesque-like everyday life of the 1970s and 1980s.

A team of Hungarian scholars led by Count Pál Teleki prepared the Carte Rouge, a red map faithfully depicting the ethnic relations of the Carpathian Basin, while Count Albert Apponyi, the head of the Hungarian peace delegation, was given the opportunity to present Hungarian ideas to the leaders of the victorious powers at the French Foreign Ministry in Paris on 16 January 1920.

80 Hussars

The film tells the story of a regiment of Hungarian hussars stationed in Poland. The hussars, mostly ordinary men, have heard news of the uprising and wish to return to the homeland to defend the newly independent country. The Empire, on the other hand, is firmly resolved that all Hungarian troops in the imperial army should be kept as far away from the trouble spot as possible, knowing that most soldiers would be loyal to Budapest rather than Vienna.
