Sky Murder

This final Carter film is a lot of fun, with Nick (unwillingly, at first) taking on a ring of Fifth Columnists (since this was filmed before the US entered the war, we're not told the villains are Nazis, but it's pretty clear anyway). Of course, the helpful and persistent Bartholomew is at his side--much to Nick's irritation. To further complicate things--and to make them still funnier--Joyce Compton is along for the ride too, as a delightfully brainless "detective" named Christine Cross.

The Love Special

Richard Marsden is a long-time friend of Henry Desmond, a powerful and successful attorney. The district attorney plan to break Desmond by having George Quinn infer that Marsden's wife is having an affair with the lawyer.

Who Cares is a 1925 silent film produced and distributed by Columbia Pictures and starring Dorothy Devore. It is preserved in the Library of Congress's collection. It is based upon a novel by Cosmo Hamilton which had been previously filmed in 1919 as Who Cares? Real-life husband and wife, actors Vera and Ralph Lewis, play grandparents.

The Boomerang

Hot Heels

Glenn Higgins and Patsy Jones are a song-and-dance team traveling the vaudeville circuit across the United States, and land in a Kentucky tank-town filled with sharpies and wise-guys , wearing spats and carrying canes, who have reasons for wanting a horse named "Hot Heels, not to win the race he is scheduled to run in. This does not bode well for the vaudevillians as Glenn, acting on a hot tip from a hot vamp, has bet the pair's bankroll on "Hot Heels" to win.

Robert Gardner and Billy Noble become interested in a machine capable--according to the inventor, Trueman--of producing artificial rubber. A trust is formed, circulars are sent out, and a demonstration is requested. When Billy discovers that the invention is fraudulent and refuses to demonstrate it, the trust lawyer becomes suspicious and notifies postal authorities. Robert feigns insanity, and Trueman accepts an offer of $1 million for the formula, which experts later discover produces an indestructible paving block.

The Perfect Sap

Wealthy young Herbert Alden, a would-be detective, is practicing housebreaking with his valet, an ex-convict, when he meets George and Polly, two real thieves; they are discovered and, following a chase, they go to Herbert's city apartment. George arranges with one of them, Tony-the-Lizard, to rob the guests at a ball given by Herbert's father at his country home. Herbert discovers that Tony is Tracy Sutton, a social lion engaged to Herbert's sister Roberta; and believing Herbert to be a famous criminal, Tony seeks his advice.

The Gray Wolf's Ghost

The unscrupulous attempts by speculators Dr. West and Jim Prince to have a railroad pass through lower California are met with opposition by Spanish landowners led by Dona Maria Saltonstall, who tries flirting with West to restore their property. Pereo, a religious fanatic who works for Dona Maria, believes in the curse of the Gray Wolf's Ghost: if a member of Dona Maria's family mates with an alien, fortune and life will be lost. Meanwhile, West's son Harry, whom he deserted years before, comes to avenge the wrong done to his mother.

Lasca

The fiery, impulsive, yet pure-hearted Lasca lives in a Mexican settlement near the Rio Grande with her twin brother Ricardo and their aunt. She falls in love with cattle rancher Anthony Moreland, whose teasings bring out her jealous temper, but Moreland, although fond of Lasca, thinks of her as a child. Seeing the flirtatious, though engaged, Clara Vane fall in love with Anthony, Lasca, in a vicious fit, stabs his wound and begs forgiveness.

Poor Girls

A young girl, Peggy Warren (Dorothy Revier), raised in expensive boarding schools, discovers that her mother, respectable Katherine Warren (Ruth Stonehouse) also leads a second life as the notorious Texas Kate, Queen of the New York nightclubs. She leaves home ashamed of how her mother paid for her expensive schooling. A reconciliation re-unites mother and daughter after the mother saves her from a loveless marriage.

They Shall Pay

Margaret Seldon's father, who has been victimized by three business associates and sent to prison, calls his daughter to him in his dying moments and asks her to avenge him. Through a detective agency she locates Amos Colby and Courtland Wells; and learning that the third man is dead, she adds his son, Allan Forbes, to the list. She foils Colby's attempt to ruin two financiers by gaining a position aboard his yacht.
