The police find a dead body in a river holding on to a 'thaali' and a wedding invitation. They begin an investigation that takes them to a house where wedding preparations are in full swing.
Moorthy is a lorry driver, who lives with his mother Ramaatha and often confronts the criminal Govindan. Moorthy and Uma fall in love with each other. One day, her father has a heart attack, when Moorthy and Uma rush him to the hospital the roads were blocked by a local political party.
