In the heart of Mumbai, a lower-middle-class family of five lives in a cramped one-room kitchen. Raj and Priya, dreaming of a better life, suffer a humiliating experience on their anniversary at the beach, caught up in a police raid. Despite their attempts to bribe their way out, they end up at the police station, filled with shame and disappointment. Returning home, the family shares a heavy, silent dinner. Later that night, Raj, unable to sleep, finds solace on the terrace with his father.
