The film "The Master of Southern Fist" is based on the character of Liu Yamei, a great master of his generation. He was born in the Qing Dynasty during the Xianfeng period. As a teenager, he travelled with his uncle from the village of Bangtang in the east of Haifeng County to Fair Market to earn a living. He studied under the famous boxing master Cai Jun, and later he created the "Throughput" style of boxing by combining the internal and external styles of martial arts. In the 1920s and 1930s, he was one of the three leaders of Southern Boxing.
