The yakuza world has entered an age of war. In Owari, Nobuhide Oriki (Tokuma Nishioka) pushes for unification, while his son Nobunaga (Hitoshi Ozawa) seizes territory by force. Suruga boss Yoshimoto Imanishi (Naoya Makoto) launches an invasion, sending Ieyasu Tokusawa (Yasukaze Motomiya)—but he’s abducted by Nobunaga’s ambitious younger brother, Nobuyuki (Masaki Nishimori), who is soon captured himself. A truce is struck with a hostage exchange, but when the Imanishi underboss turns up dead, peace collapses and war erupts. Meanwhile, Michizo Saimon (Shinzo Hotta) of Mino, dispatching young Hitoyoshi Toyoumi (Hideo Nakano) on a dangerous mission.
With the death of Nobuhide Oriki (Tokuma Nishioka), a brutal succession battle erupts within the Oriki-gumi. By vote, Nobunaga (Hitoshi Ozawa) becomes second-generation boss, forcing his brother Nobuyuki into rebellion. In the bloody aftermath, Nobunaga kills both Nobuyuki and his relative Nobuyasu Iwasaki (Hitomi Matsuda). Tragedy deepens as his right-hand man Masahide Hirako (Jiro Okazaki) takes his own life, and his father-in-law Michizo Saimon (Shinzo Hotta) is assassinated in a coup. Now as boss, Nobunaga sets the underworld in motion once more: Ujiyasu Nanjo (Sansho Fukami) rises in Kanto, Motonari Mōriya (Shinichi Chiba) expands in Aki, and in Nagano the fated clash of Kenshin Uemura (Ryuji Harada) and Shingen Takebe (Shun Sugata) begins. But the greatest threat comes from Yoshimoto Imanishi (Naoya Makoto), leading the invasion of Owari. The “war of the elephant and the ant” is about to reach its endgame.
The fall of Yoshimoto Imanishi spreads Nobunaga Oriki’s (Hitoshi Ozawa) reputation across Japan. In Omi, he forges a brotherhood oath with Nagamasa Asakawa (Daisuke Nagakura), further extending the Oriki-gumi’s influence. Alarmed, National Police Agency Director Ichijo (Masahiko Tsugawa) orders their destruction. Meanwhile, Ieyasu Tokusawa (Yasukaze Motomiya) abandons the Imanishi-gumi, declaring independence as the Tokusawa-gumi. Upon learning this, Nobunaga extends his hand, joining forces with Tokusawa in pursuit of nationwide unification. Elsewhere, Yoshiaki Ashitaga (Kazuyoshi Ozawa), ousted from the Murohachi Alliance, seeks to rebuild it, turning to Shingen Takebe (Shun Sugata) for aid—but is coldly passed around. And from Fukui, Mitsuhide Akashi (Mikio osawa) of the Amakura-gumi moves the pieces of the board, pulling the Oriki-gumi into the next great upheaval.

After taking out the chairman of the Tajima-kai—a subgroup of Kansai's largest syndicate, the Yamagami-gumi—to settle a turf dispute, Ryu Yamanaka (Koji Matoba) returns to the Miura family after a long prison sentence. But everything has changed. The weakened Miura clan, with their leader Miura (Eiichiro Funakoshi) bedridden from illness, has had their territory encroached upon by the now-allied Tajima-kai. As rumors of succession stir with Ryu's return, Tajima and Yamagami's underhanded schemes begin to surface. When a doctor is found dead and the company's exclusive data on a cancer drug is missing, detective Takayama and Oshita are called to the Nakamitsu pharmaceutical laboratory. However, a bungled attempt to catch the murderer leave Takayama and Oshita reassigned to the lackluster task of patrolling public bathrooms to keep them out of trouble.

Formerly a covert spy under the shogunate, ronin Azami Onijuro and his carefree companion, ronin, journeyed along the Kiso Highway. As they approached the Echizen Domain, they encountered a woman named Osode. Recognizing Onijuro's formidable skills, she asked for his help as she was on her way to Owari. Osode, the daughter of the second-ranking retainer of the Katsuyama Domain, carried a blood-sealed letter that served as evidence of a conspiracy involving the assassination of the domain lord by the Deputy Chief and the lord's younger brother. Onijuro's group becomes a target and is chased after by the chief retainer's top enforcer.
Chairman of the Souryukai, Yukihiro Kawaji (Hitoshi Ozawa), is shielded by Executive Director Takeshi Kanzaki (Kazumi Matsuda), who takes a bullet and is severely injured. The Sakata family holds an emergency executive meeting, attended by Detective Umezawa (Hoka Kinoshita) from the Fourth Investigative Division, to deny any involvement. Meanwhile, at the Souryukai, Vice Chairman Shinji Wakamiya (Kazuyoshi Ozawa) and the others begin to prepare for retaliation against the Sakata family. The tension between both sides rapidly escalates— Following emergency surgery, Kanzaki narrowly escapes death. Then, at Kawaji’s command, the battle finally ignites—!!
Despite the peace efforts of Souryukai’s Senior Advisor Yudai Kanou (Yudai Ishiyama), the conflict between the Souryukai and Sakata family only intensifies. Led by Executive Director Takeshi Kanzaki (Kazumi Matsuda), the Souryukai is designated under the Anti-Boryokudan Law, prompting Umezawa (Hoka Kinoshita) from the Osaka Prefectural Police to conduct a raid. In the midst of this, the retired Third-Generation head Tatsuichi Kuroki (Jiro Dan) suddenly collapses and falls into a coma. His biological son, Kanzaki, goes to see him…
During the funeral of Senior Advisor Yudai Kanou (Yudai Ishiyama), the Souryukai executives prepare for battle against the Fourth-Generation Sakata family, who were behind Kanou’s murder. However, Chairman Yukihiro Kawaji (Hitoshi Ozawa), wary of the Anti-Boryokudan Law, hesitates to make the first move. Thus, instead of starting a full-scale gang war, he entrusts Takeshi Kanzaki (Kazumi Matsuda) with carrying out revenge on the direct perpetrators and mastermind. Where had Kanou’s plans leaked from? Vice Chairman Shinji Wakamiya (Kazuyoshi Ozawa) discovers that the day before Kanou was killed, Daisuke Sakai (Daisuke Nagakura), Chief of the Fourth-Generation Sakata family, met with Eiichi Konkai (Eiichi Furui) of the Sakuraba clan. After extracting the truth from Konkai, Kanzaki goes after Sakai—but Sakai and his men are headed for Kanou’s gravestone…
Nabeshima (Noboru Kaneko), an assistant underboss of the Hanzawa-gumi Otsuru Family, is summoned by headquarters to a certain location. Gathered there are five elite members from the Hanzawa-gumi. Then appears Oshitari (Hitoshi Ozawa), the underboss of the Hanzawa-gumi himself. His order is simple— “Assassinate Kanemaru, the boss of the Kamui Family… the Don of Heisei Japan!”
