Led by Santa Catarina director Petter Baiestorf, the production company came to be called Canibal Filmes. The films found their own way of financing and showing to the public. Through reports, photographs, documents and videos, the documentary covers Canibal's early years, retracing the group's efforts and challenges in making independent cinema in a region with no cinematic tradition.
