One day, a young man unexpectedly shows up in the small town, and word quickly spreads that he has inherited a fishing boat and a small house from his uncle. Martin Poulsen is not a fisherman, but he decides to become one. He finds a good helper, Mikkel, who has been fishing for many years, and his nephew, Anders, who has his eye on Marie from Møllegården. One day, Martin meets the oldest girl on the farm, Anna, and quickly falls in love with her. This, along with his interest in fishing, becomes a thorn in the side of the small community's largest cutter owner, who has until now been regarded as a minor king.

The plot is nothing new: it's what is done with it that pleases the eye and ear. Ingen tid til Kaertegn was one of the more popular entries in the 1957 Berlin Film Festival.

A young, beautiful girl arrives at Krogerød Kro on Mols and shocks the innkeeper by telling him that he is her father. At the same time, the inn is about to lose its liquor license, threatening its very existence. The innkeeper tells the girl that both he and his friend from his military days have paid child support to her, as no one knew which of them was her real father.
Egon and the gang are hired to stage a robbery of an antique Chinese vase for an economically challenged baron. Naturally they fooled, which infuriates Egon. The gang tries to get back at the baron by switching the vase with a cheap Hong Kong copy. One attempt is made during the barons hunting party, where Egon ends up being bricked up in the catacombs. In another attempt, the gang has to coordinate breaking through several walls at The Royal Theater in Copenhagen with the "Elverhøj" overture.

Frede Hansen, a game salesman, is mistaken for a secret service agent on a ferry and kidnapped by enemy agents. He escapes and now the secret service want to use him as bait to track the enemy. They assign their best agent, Smith to be his partner and supervisor. Their main task is to eliminate the head of the enemy conspiracy, the mysterious 'Dr. Pax' who's real identity is unknown. Freddy accompanies Smith to Stockholm where they are to meet Sonja, an agent for Dr. Pax, who is also on Smith's liquidation list. Thanks to his bag of game tricks, Freddy manages to avoid being done in by Kolick, a killer for Dr. Pax. Freddy falls for Sonja, and he, she and Smith are taken as prisoners to Dr. Pax's hideout, a remote island fortress from which a major power is to be attacked by missiles guided by trained pigeons. Freddy manages to teach Dr. Pax a lasting lesson in the difference between trained pigeons and homing pigeons.

A fictional character, Rasmus Nielsen, travels around the country, first as a traveling teacher, later in other positions, and through his experiences we are introduced to the conditions of various population groups. The central figure in the portrayal of historical figures is the politician Orla Lehmann.

In the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean on the island of Troldø lives a single farming family. The grandmother Gunhild is the only woman on the island and her son Enok is unable to find a wife. Gunhild's advanced age causes her to worry for the future of the family. So she initiates a plan to get Enok married, a plan that is put into action when the young Eva becomes stranded on the island. In a strange way, Venus intervenes in the turbulent fate of art historian Hannibal Svanø and creates conflicts for many others. After spending the whole summer leading a nomadic but rather pleasant life, interrupted only by occasional periods of work with old friends around the country, Svanø now sets off for the capital. On the way, he manages to persuade an old schoolmate, Judge Truelsen, to give him a loan that enables him to enjoy a hearty meal in a small, cozy restaurant called "Asietten."
