Goryokaku

After the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate, there was a series of battles fought while the former supporters of the Tokugawa shogunate retreated to the north where they actually started a sovereign nation that was recognized by more than one European country. Survivors of the Shinsengumi were among the followers of Enomoto Takeaki who took them to the northernmost island of Ezo where they fought their final battle at the star shaped fort, Goryokaku. The Japanese Civil Wars fought in the name of the emperor signaled the complete end of the feudal system and Japan’s entry into the modern world as those brave samurai tried to halt progress and learned that the age of modern warfare and weaponry had passed them by. Swords were no match for rifles and cannons, nor was any man a match for the power of the imperial flag. Japanese loyalty to the emperor has long defined the nation and culture despite the changing times.

Sudachi no toki kyoiku wa shinazu

Here is a school that has never expelled a single student, believing in its children even after betrayal and betrayal after betrayal! Yoji (Yoichi Sase), the son of a doctor in Suwa, and Nobuko (Mayuki Kirihara), the daughter of a weaver in Kyoto, are transferred to the class of Omura (Chiemi Eri), a PE teacher at Shinonoi Asahi High School, a private school for troubled children. The school principal (Hiroyuki Nagato) says that the school's policy of "not letting anyone drop out of school" must be upheld, and Omura struggles to do everything in his power to respond. Based on a true story by Shigeta Wakabayashi, an education critic, the film depicts the relationship between a student abandoned by his parents and a teacher who sincerely deals with them.

The Revolt

Suspicion

A car going at 25 mph plunges into the sea at Shinko Harbour, Toyama prefecture. Inside is the local business magnate Fukutaro Shirakawa, who perishes. Black Sun

In late 1940 the Japanese were anxious to conclude peace in China and to that end sent Colonel Hidaka to inaugurate negotiations. He was mysteriously assassinated, however, when his car was blown up. The General Staff Headquarters in Japan, sends Lieutenant Shiina, a graduate of the famed Nakano School of Spies inaugurated by Colonel Kusanagi, to investigate the matter. Arriving in Shanghai, he disguises himself as a Chinese coolie and sets out to watch for developments, the only clue being a silver dollar found beside what was left of the victim.

Lone Wolf Isazo

The Start of Life

A young girl in an industrial town is saving her money to enter college. But her drunken father loses his job, her mother cannot make ends meet, and then the boy she likes loses everything when his factory fails. She takes all her savings out of the bank and offers them to him to make a new start. He refuses at first but eventually agrees and so she goes back to school to tell her teacher that she has decided not to continue college, that she is young and strong, and can make her own way in life.
