A spell of time in the life of the five-piece Haruno family in rural Tochigi Prefecture. Yoshiko is not an ordinary housewife, instead working on an animated film project. Uncle Ayano, a successful music producer, is looking to get his head together after living in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Sachiko is concerned with why she seems to be followed by a giant version of herself. As the lazy days pass by, each member of the family is followed in a series of episodic vignettes.

The story begins with three Aliens in human form preparing for a ritual to feed the Fog Mother's "siblings". The Fog Mother last came to earth during the Prehistoric Age and is the cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs. Kenji and his kid sister are in the mountains, investigating all the deaths of animals and trees there. The Fog Mother sends the three aliens, "Gorai", "Zuu", and "Agito" to kidnap Kenji's baby sister for the sacrifice.
When a young girl discovers that her new middle school is the same one her sister mysteriously disappeared from eleven years before. She and her new friends join forces to fight the evil force that threatens them all.
Born into a wealthy family, 17-year-old Masato (Emoto Tasuku) has never been deprived of material comforts, but his distant relationship with his parents leaves him empty and rebellious. Genichiro, a lonely retired man living with his son’s family who mostly ignores him, feels closest to his granddaughter who is in highschool. Through her, Genichiro meets another high school girl, Mina, who also feels ignored by her family. She is also troubled by her friend’s pregnancy and the bankruptcy of her father’s company. Unlike her friends, Mina has an ungilded view of life and finds herself comforted by Genichiro’s wisdom. Genichiro likewise is happy to be making a difference in someone’s life.
