I Am Cuba

A study in contrasts set in and around Havana that explores Cuba's 1959 revolution: a young woman's fascination with the excess of an American-owned casino leads to her downfall in the eyes of her street vendor boyfriend; a tenant farmer revolts the only way he knows how, attacking the land he works; university students gain first-hand knowledge of political upheaval; and, in the hills outside the city, the members of a poor peasant family are patriotically swept up into the burgeoning revolt.

El Mayor

The story of Cuban revolutionary Ignacio Agramonte.

Chamaco

When a young man is killed in Central Park in La Habana, a series of coincidences reveals that many of the night walkers that hang around the park are related to the crime.

Lucía

Traces episodes in the lives of three Cuban women, each named Lucía, from three different historical periods: the 1890s, the 1930s, and the 1960s.

Behavior

Meet Chala, an eleven year-old boy with a hard life and strong respect for Carmela, his sixth grade teacher. The pair develops a solid bond, but after Carmela suffers an accident, things get complicated…

Vertical Love

The architecture student Estela (Silvia Aguila) makes a suicide attempt after her plans for solving Havana's housing shortage are rejected. This brings her into contact with earthy, cynical hospital nurse Ernesto (Jorge Perugorria). Estela invites him home for dinner, and he succeeds in offending everyone present. Unable to find a quiet spot to be alone, they finally find a squatters' tenement, where their sexual frenzy causes a ceiling to collapse. They next try vertical love in a stalled elevator, trapping people in the modern building minus stairs. Fleeing responsibilities, they stage a romantic rendezvous alongside a country river, but once again they are interrupted as Cuban commissars arrive with papers and forms because the couple constructs a hut beneath a bridge. Amid the misadventures, lust turns to love

Dryland

Havana, 1993. A serial killer decapites cops. Mario, a disenchanted policeman, finds the head of the seventh victim...

Life Is to Whistle

Three characters in present-day Havana must choose between clinging to their self-restricting beliefs, or getting rid of them to live more freely. Ballerina Mariana has promised God celibacy if she gets the role of "Giselle"; Social-worker Julia always faints after hearing a certain word; and pot-smoking percussionist Elpidio was abandoned by his mother, coincidentally named Cuba, some time ago and has not yet gotten over the loss.

Nora

The true story of a woman who infiltrates a spy network and defends her determination to complete her mission to the very end. It will recreate the atmosphere of the 1990s and will be set in the capital city, the tourist resort of Varadero, and the Ciénaga de Zapata.

Estrés

It's an open wound. With Estrés, Marilyn Solaya doesn't seek to tell stories: she exposes them, shakes them up, leaves them unanesthetized. In six intertwined stories, the director turns everyday life into an emotional battlefield, where poverty, love, illness, and dignity clash relentlessly.

Pablo

After losing his mother at 5 years old, and recently, his grandmother, 11 year old Pablo goes under the custody of his father Rogelio, who's nothing but an unscrupulous criminal.
